Rev. Joseph Gomer

Joseph Gomer (1834–1892) was an African American missionary on behalf of the United Brethren Church active in Sierra Leone with his wife Mary Wiley.

Gomer was born in Michigan. During the American Civil War he served in the Union Army. Following the end of the war he settled in Dayton, Ohio.

He and Mary are the grandparents of Mary Finley.

Richard Cunningham was born on December 17, 1849 in Ruttles Mills, Kentucky to John and Ellen Cunningham. He married Mary Finley and had 12 children. He died on December 24, 1932 in Howard County, Indiana.

Charles Edward Reed, Sr. was born in 1854 in Ohio. He had one son with Mary Finley in 1876. He died as a young father in 1876 in New London, Ohio at the age of 22.

Mary Finley

May Finley was born in November of 1859 in Ohio, the daughter of William and Martha Finley. She married Charles Reed, Sr. and had one son. After her husbands death, she married Richard Cunningham and has 12 children together. She died on March 17, 1945, in Cook, Illinois at the age of 85 and was buried in Howard County, Indiana.

Charles and Sophia had 10 children: John (served in WW I), Virgil (died in infancy), Edith, Fern, Ceci, l Russel, the twins Raymond Earl and Ruby Pearl, Mildred and Edna Bernice.

Charles Reed, Jr. passed away one month after his mother Mary on January 8th, 1944 at the age of 67.
